Katikati Hosts a Saturday Night to Remember.

The vibe was absolutely electric on Saturday night, 21 March, as our mates over at Katikati Naturist Park (KNP) opened their gates to host the Hauraki Naturally "Guilty Pleasures" Naked Rave. This was the official wrap-party for the 5th annual World Naked Bike Ride held earlier that day, and man, what a way to wind down.

Trading the Saddle for the Dancefloor

About 60 of us—including a good chunk of the 39 riders from the afternoon—swapped the bicycle seats for the dancefloor. The nostalgia was thick in the air as the hits from the 60s right through to the 90s started pumping.

Before long, everyone had well and truly let go of their inhibitions. We were all singing at the top of our lungs to everything from the soulful grooves of Stevie Wonder to the high-energy Aussie rock of AC/DC. Even as the evening air started to get a bit nippy, the energy on the floor kept everyone warm and comfortable in our natural state.

Bridging the Gap

This bash really showed the value of NZNF-affiliated spaces like KNP. They are absolute hubs for the wider movement. By hosting Hauraki Naturally for this post-protest celebration, KNP provided the perfect spot for both our "public-facing" activists and the long-time club members to get together, swap yarns from the day’s ride, and just enjoy the lifestyle through a bit of music and dance.

The Heart of the Movement

It was a great reminder that while we "push the envelope" out in the public eye, the heart of what we do is about the strong social bonds we form. Whether we're out on the road or under the disco lights at KNP, it’s all about connection.

Huge thanks to the team at KNP for having us—it was a "Guilty Pleasure" indeed!
