Beating the Bots

For three years, we’ve been locked in a digital scrap with the Facebook algorithms. We knew a Public Page would be the perfect way to show the rest of New Zealand what we’re about, but the bots weren't having a bar of it.

Every time we tried to set things up, we were met with the same old story: "Inconsistent with community guidelines." No specifics, no human to talk to—just a link to a massive document and a "computer says no" attitude.

The Hard Graft

We didn't just roll over. We tried everything to get around the blockade: different rigs, incognito modes, even VPNs. At one point, we managed to get a page live for 48 hours before Facebook demanded photographic ID, only to reject the verification and bin the page anyway. It felt like the "Hauraki Naturally" name was stuck in a digital filter we couldn't break.

Flicking the Switch

A few days ago, we figured it was time for another try. Maybe the systems had finally matured, or maybe we just caught the algorithm on a good day. Whatever it was—it worked. No errors, no roadblocks.

The Hauraki Naturally Public Facebook Page is officially live and kicking. It even came with "Quality Recommendations" right out of the gate, which is a bit of a laugh considering the three-year battle it took to get here.

Why it Matters

Our private group (now 269 members strong) is great for the internal yarns, but this new Public Page is about the bigger picture. Just like here on The Naked Truth, it’s an up-to-the-minute tool to showcase our aims, ambitions, and the right to self-expression through clothing-optional acceptance to the wider Kiwi public.

Traditional bi-monthly newsletters are great for the long-form stuff and Club News, but our enterprise moves faster than a print run. The Facebook Page is our "digital front porch"—the place where we’ll be dropping teaser introductions and links to The Naked Truth real-time investigative scoops and the latest news as it happens. We’re taking the movement out of the shadows and onto the main stage.
