Safe experiences at known beaches.

Bay of Plenty Naturists are an e mail group run by Glenne and Col for the past approx 15 years. Up to a couple of years ago they ran semi organised beach days every fortnight alternating between Papamoa and Waihi Beach. Glenne has put a lot of effort into attracting woman to naturism, the beach days were a good safe introduction to being nude in public. I went to one of those days and it was absolutely great. About 20 group members and another 20 or so members of the public either clothed or naked as well as many walkers going past. These events are semi organised which makes a huge difference from a normal weekend afternoon in summer. If the public can see that an event of some sort is going on, by a simple sign, flag or gazebo etc. they will be far more relaxed and comfortable, especially woman This is why Free beaches in the South Is. have the Fred Bear symbol flags although some events are pretty self explanatory, like the recent nude fishing competition. I think if landed clubs had beach or bush walk days it could work wonders for membership, maybe they are already doing that I don’t know.

Glenne and Col have done an outstanding job with BoP Naturists. It was great to catch up with them at the KNP 30 year celebrations. Sadly their health hasn't been great over recent times, but it's great to see Terry Long and Kelvin Whalley step up to organise events for the group. Yes, Glenne has been very successful in attracting women and couples to BoP Naturists and to the lifestyle generally. The only activity I know of that is organised by a landed club outside their own perimeter is the Waikato Outdoor Society bike ride, which I believe is a 10 minute ride up the road from the club grounds and back again. They have also organised hikes at the Edmund Hillary Memorial Park near Raglan in the past. I have tried many times to invite other clubs such as AONC and Counties Sun Club to join with us for beach events, bush hikes, and other activities, but they are simply not interested, unfortunately.
