POLAR PLUNGE 2023
Thanks to those hardy souls who braved the 12.6 deg C waters of the Hauraki Gulf on Saturday at Ray's Rest Freedom Campsite on the Kaiaua Coast. I have to admit it was colder than I was expecting but, given the long period of overcast rainy days previously, it was hardly surprising. There has been very little sunshine. And the brown water also testified to the amout of runoff from the Piako, Waihou and Waitakaruru Rivers.
But we did it! And everyone was in high spirits! It was great to warm up over some lunch at Kaiaua Fisheries. The gurnard was to die for!
The fundraising page still runs for a while yet, so if you'd like to support the cause please visit our Givealittle page: https://givealittle.co.nz/fundraiser/polar-plunge-for-gumboot-friday

So, here you go, folks - an appreciation from the "I Am Hope" foundation for your support of the Polar Plunge. Your contributions will be used to provide free counselling to young people suffering depression and feelings of worthlessness - often due to body dissatisfaction and the unreal expectations placed on them by the fashion, beauty, and fitness industries, advertising media, social media - among others.
