WORLD NAKED BIKE RIDE - Update

So there's been a few developments regarding the WNBR in November that will mean some re-organising.

Firstly, the date is not suitable for the Bowentown Boating Club to host the event as they have their own events happening then. So we need a new preparation and start / finish area for the ride.

Secondly, two of our original sponsors are no longer keen. Waihi Sports and Cycles claim that the return on any sponsorship they donate won't be worth it, as they are "new in the area". That seems to me all the more reason to sponsor the event - to gain publicity! But that's their call. And Waihi Stationery were so grudging in their attitude last time that I'm not bothering with them for November.

So - where to from here? If we want to continue pursuing Waihi Beach as a location, I will need a bit of assistance from folks either handy to Waihi, or who visit there regularly, to research and set up an alternative starting area to base the event. Alternatively, we drop the Waihi Beach location altogether and consider 2 options: 1. Approach KNP to host the event with a 9 Km ride around Katikati - through the township and around a circuit via Fairview Road. or 2. I can likely sort out a good spot in Thames to hold it - it's a lot handier that Waihi Beach for me to do a bit of research and negotiating.

What does everyone think? For me, personally, either of these 3 possibilities is fine. If someone wants to pursue Waihi Beach, I can certainly provide assistance. If you think KNP is best, I'll set that up with Steve and Ricky. If you think Thames is better I'm happy to pursue that too.

Looking forward to you thoughts . . .
