NOTICE to All - especially Auckland Members . . .

I have received advice that the Auckland City Council has become aware that overt sexual activity and exhibitionism is becoming a problem on Pohutukawa Beach on Auckland's North Shore, and they plan to take action.

It is possible that they will try to impose some sort of bylaw forbidding nude swimming or sunbathing there, similar to the North Shore City Council's attempts to do the same at St Leonard's Beach some time ago.

While the Council's potential action could be unenforceable, it's vital that Naturists who use that beach keep an eye out for any lewd behaviour, and not be afraid to deal with the perpetrators. It's your beach and your right to skinnydip there that is under threat.

John Lowe at Free Beaches New Zealand is keen to discuss the situation with the appropriate officers at Auckland City Council. If you know who to contact there, please let me or John know. Assuring the council that Naturists do not tolerate indecent behaviour on the beaches, and showing a willingness to monitor the situation should work to your advantage.

If anyone knows the appropriate officer(s) to deal with, send me a message and I'll put you in touch with John.

That's great to hear, @MystrD . Yes, I haven't heard of any behaviour issues at P. Bay this summer. We just need to maintain vigilance when ever possible and not be afraid to confront offenders.
