WAITAWHETA RIVER and FOREST WALK
If you're attending the WNBR this weekend, you'll already know about this Sunday's walk. Otherwise, even if you're not doing the bike ride, you're welcome to join us for this easy flat hike along the tramway track beside the Waitawheta River. It will be around 2 hours each way; up the river in the morning, stop for lunch, and return in the afternoon.

Again, this is clothing-optional. You don't have to be naked if you or a partner doesn't want to be. The choice is yours!
This spot is steeped in logging history and has interesting information boards along the way, as well as a relic wagon carrying a log.
Start time will be 10 a.m at the end of Franklin Road (off Waitawheta Road). Bring all the usual stuff - water bottle, insect repellent, reasonable footwear, - it's not muddy, so sneakers or open sandals are fine. Jandals not recommended. Barefeet if they are tough!
The weather at the moment looks warm but cloudy - possible light showers early morning then clearing. Temperature is 22 degrees, so walking naked in light showers would be quite pleasant.

Last time (quite a few yrs back) bush waking in the Kaimai my knee gave up on the down hill. I’m not sure I could trust myself to do 4hrs even on the flat. I’ll look fwd to doing a shorter one! 🤗✅
