WAIORONGOMAI HIKE
Our Newest member, Matt, is planning to hike up the Waiorongomai on Sunday. We realise it's short notice, but if anyone is keen, meet at the Waiorongomai Carpark at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. Matt will be in a white Ford Ranger ute.
The carpark is at the end of Waiorongomai Road, which is south-east of Te Aroha, about 4 Km on the left off Whitaker / Te Aroha Gordon Road.
The hike will be around 4 hours. Bring your usual gear - water bottle, lightweight waterproof jacket, appropriate footwear. The Waiorongomai tracks are well formed but steep in parts, so reasonable fitness needed.
Weather should be comfortable with 17 degrees and overcast. Rain not expected til late afternoon, but you never know with the Kaimai Range, so need to be prepared for anything.
