SAND MURALS at WAIHI BEACH
After several failed attempts at holding this event last summer, Reece and Julie Hood are going to try again to make it happen on Sunday, 19th February.
Low tide is at 1 p.m. and so we'll have several hours late morning and early afternoon to get the design onto the sand. We'll take some photos and video of the completed artwork by drone, and have lunch and a swim together.
The meeting place is Access 34. To find Access 34 head down Seaforth Road towards Bowentown and watch for Albacore Ave on your left at the end of the housing area and start of the dunes. Then carry on down Seaforth to the 3rd carpark area on your left and access the beach there.
I'm picking the meeting time will be around 9 or 10 a.m. but I'll confirm that with Reece and update the details here shortly.
Bring rakes, hoes, tillers and any other garden tools that you think will make cool designs in the sand. Also bring your lunch, sunblock and insect repellent. There is no shade, so a sun brolly is also a good idea.
This is the only date available when all the stars align, so fingers crossed for good weather!
Any questions?
Rok
UPDATE: The starting time is confirmed as 10 a.m. Please let me know in the comments below if you'd like to attend, or email Reece and Julie directly: hoods.haven@gmail.com

A good move is to reduce the use of traditional "nude beaches" and go skinny dipping at other places where the public are. If you keep a respectable distance (30 - 50 meters or more) you should have no trouble at all. And people get used to seeing people skinny dipping with no evil intentions.
