Good Good Friday hike

Neil and I went for a hike on Good Friday to Kuataika trig. And Good it was!

We started our hike from the end of Long Road. and followed the track. We then took the turn off onto Smythe Ridge track. It is a long gravel track with an almost constant incline. On our way were clearing the track from fallen branches.

We were hoping to get some views on our way, because it was rather boring. But the weather was good. So were our spirits, and we kept following the route, until we found the Kuataika trig. And YES we had some stunning views.

Hi everyone

Hope the WNBR went well. I was hoping to make it along to the nude Tramp but unfortunately pesky work got in the way.

I was wondering if any of the fellow Auckland members have done any good local Naked bush walks. I love to go for a bush walk naked but there seems to be very few places to do it.

Wouldn’t be great if we could get a mixed group together and head out for a nude bush walk. Seems only us silly males tend to do it which is a bit disappointing but understandable I guess.Any suggestions on trails or interest in joing me would be great. Thanks everyone.

Hey Mike. Sorry you couldn't make the WNBR and the Naked Rave. Maybe next year! In reality there are over 250 Km of walking / hiking tracks through the Waitakere ranges and West Coast beaches, and you're within your legal rights to hike any of them naked. The best thing to do is work out a date when you're definitely off work and set it up as an event. Advertise it in the Coming Events group as well as our Facebook group. If you'd like some assistance, @Neil B is well experienced in hiking trails in that region. I'm pretty sure he'd be able to offer advice and encouragement.

The power of Nature.

Hello members, I thought I would share what I found on one of the local hiking tracks in the Waikato. The photos show the shear power of nature after a severe weather event in February. The track is the Nikau Loop walk at the base of Mount Pirongia. Hats off to Doc for getting the track open again, but wow it's a big old mess. The last photo is of a walk I did last August just after it was upgraded after cyclone Gabrielle. This event was apparently a one in 250 year one.
