Whiritoa / Waimama Bay

How to get there

Whiritoa is North of Waihi on SH25

Use the carpark on Fishermans Bend at the northern end of Whiritoa. Your GPS will help you find Fishermans Bend which is a street and not a knot!

From the carpark, walk down to the beach and cross the lagoon. This is usually easier (shallower) near the shore. There is a well marked track over the hill to Waimama Bay. There is a sign at the entry under a Pohutukawa tree. Takes about 30 minutes and provides views out over the ocean. At the beach, turn left and walk 50m. This is the location used by naturists.
