So June 21st is World Naked Hiking Day. Not ideal timing for us Southern Hemisphere dwellers but IF - and it's a pretty big if the weather is acceptable who would be up for a clothing optional Kaimai hike?

Starting as usual from either Waiorongomai or Tuahu area and hike for 3 to 4hrs.

Let me know via PM or comments here and I'll organise more specifics.

I'm going back up on the 3rd of April, had a nice time on the 20th of this month. Shame it will be School Holidays on my Birthday or I would be going up twice in April.

Here are the details for those who are keen to do this easy flat walk this Sunday 23rd March.

We'll meet at Ray's Rest Freedom Camping, just North of Miranda at 12 NOON (midday), and park at the South end near the cycleway by the road (a couple of maps are attached).

The walk takes about an hour each way along a rare, globally significant chenier shellbank, which is the summer home to a number of migrating seabirds such as godwits.  At this time of the year the birds start their long journey back to Siberia, Alaska, and other places North, while some of our local birds such as oystercatchers and wrybills start arriving.
