Clothes-optional Locations

Forgive me if I wax too eloquently in this blog. This morning finds me sitting in my version of naturist paradise. My wife and I have come to Raglan for the weekend and in booking our AirBnB accommodation we have stumbled on a wonderful place that is both secluded and private enough to shed all your layers and stress at the same time.

It is a near new architectural bach overlooking the inner Raglan harbour and is situated just out of the township of Raglan in the bordering semi-rural area. You are well separated from the other residence on the property by a short winding driveway through scrubby bush that also screens you from neighboring property. The chalet itself comprises of two rooms, the first a large split level room with the lower lounging area and full kitchen opening onto a deck with views straight out to the harbour. The upper level has the bedroom furniture and a well-stocked bookcase, and it too has the expansive water view. With the blinds left open at night you can watch the stars parade the night sky and then wake to the colours of the sunrise.

Behind the bedroom is a large bathroom with a full height unobscured window as part of the shower. You can watch the wind turbines on the far hills as you enjoy the shower and we slept with the blinds up such is the privacy of the site.

It’s worth noting at this point that my wife is quite shy when it comes to naturist pursuits and she is enjoying this place, quite happy to sleep with the blinds open, and to enjoy the cast iron bath on the front deck. It is filled with fresh hot water from the gas califont (yep endless hot water) and she has spent the morning soaking up the warm autumn sun from the embrace of a hot bath with ocean views. Definitely hard to beat and a good recommendation for any of you that also have shy partners.

The modern quality decor and furnishings etc give the rooms a resort feeling, and unfortunately it is on the resort end of the scale for accommodation costs. We are paying $210 a night + cleaning fee, service fee and tax bringing the total to $643 for 2 nights. That said there is a note here saying that for future bookings to contact them directly on 0212650680 or madelinerixtrott@xtra.co.nz. I don’t know how much that will save but I’m guessing it saves you the $80 “service fee” at the least.

We have been looking for a place to stay like this for ages and will definitely be back. If you are aware of others like it, we would be glad to know as this is a great way to enjoy both naturism and each other’s company.
